Our second annual JV Jam round-robin tournament held on Saturday, April 14th was a huge success thanks to the participation of area teams.

We thank the following high school junior varsity teams for their participation and support of our event:

* Cy-Fair Ironmen

* Fort Bend Rangers

* Magnolia Bulldogs

* Round Rock Dragons

A good day of lacrosse was had by all and a few members of our parent boosters were present to help with grilling burgers and hot dogs for our concessions.

Our team mission is to continue to help expand and support youth lacrosse playing opportunities. Next season the goal is to add to our event schedule. We will begin with the College Prep Lacrosse Showcase Tournaments, June 9-10th. For more information please visit: www.cplaxshowcase.com

National Bracket Announcedâ€¦ #16 Sam Houston vs #1 St Thomas!

The MCLA Division II national playoff bracket was just announce Sunday night and the Bearkats get the final seed (#16) and play the defending national champion Tommies of St. Thomas (St Paul, MN).

Coach Fritts had this to say… “I was in bed when I got the phone call about the bracket.Â Looked it up online myself and then started putting the scout report on St. Thomas together.Â We’re not the same team that lost to Kennesaw State in March.Â The guys are much more patient and we’re hitting on all 6 cylinders.Â The loss to Texas Tech was one we felt we should have kept the ‘W’ and the win over Texas A&M proves that we can play with some of the best talent in the country.Â Our DI schedule this year served its purpose… to prepare us for the tough competition at nationals.”

The game is scheduled for 10am on Tuesday, May 11, 2010.Â Â Field assignment at Dicks Sporting Goods Park is not known at this time.

Alumni Game A Success In Bowers Stadium

After days of rain and the threat of canceling the Alumni Game, the Recreational Sports Department pulled off a miracle… the game was played in Bowers Stadium under the lights!Â Alumni flew in from Kentucky to Pennsylvania and as far as Seattle, so putting the game off was the last thing anyone wanted to see.Â “What a treat this was for our alumni and the current team!Â To play in Bowers on the turf just made everyone’s night!” said Coach Fritts.Â The current team really took it to the alumni showing off their new offense and recruits.Â “The ‘O’ looked great… but the Defense is just sick” said attackman alum Andy Tarter.Â “Every time you touch the ball and turn around, some kid is there just beating the garbage out of you and eventually taking the ball away!Â We’ve never seen a Sam Houston team like this before.”
